Drs. Jill Cameron and Kelly O’Brien, Co-directors of the Rehabilitation Science Research Network for COVID led a symposium, “Opportunities for International Collaborations and Capacity Building in Long COVID and COVID-19 Rehabilitation Research,” at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) Conference in Chicago on November 11th. The symposium was be moderated by Darren Brown, PT, Chair and Founder of Long COVID Physio. The symposium also featured presentations by Lisa McCorkell, MPP, and Co-Founder of Patient-Led Research Collaborative, and Dr. Fofi Constaninidou, SLP, and Professor and Director of the Center for Applied Neuroscience at the University of Cyprus.

This symposium described the scope and aims of the following initiatives: 1) Patient-Led Research Collaborative; 2) European Union Brain Research and Integrative Neuroscience Network for COVID-19 (BRAINN); 3) Long COVID Physio; and 4) Rehabilitation Science Research Network for COVID. These initiatives have emerged to address the complex rehabilitation needs of individuals affected by COVID-19. The symposium provided a sample of the research pursued in each collaboration and a group discussion followed to identify research priorities for COVID-19 rehabilitation research.
