Catalyst Grant-Supported Article Published on Experiences of Physiotherapists with Long COVID

'Experiences of physiotherapists working with adults living with Long COVID in Canada: a qualitative study' was published in BMJ Open on November 7, 2024.

A student group from the University of Toronto Department of Physical Therapy has published an article exploring the experiences of physiotherapists working with adults living with Long COVID in Canada. This study was an MScPT Scholarly Practice Research Study, and was supported by a Catalyst Grant from the Rehabilitation Science Research Network for COVID.

The study provides important insight into how the role of physiotherapists has been impacted by the emergence of Long COVID, and describes experiences with patients with Long COVID. It also explores how some physiotherapists interacted with and sought out information and education about Long COVID early in the pandemic. Physiotherapists living with Long COVID also offered insight into how living with the condition impacted their practice. Results of the study may help inform physiotherapy education in Long COVID rehabilitation in Canada moving forward.
